Vavrina's view of this beautiful Mount Athos, Greece monastery, shows how it was built right out of the surrounding rock.
This painting has a 2" white border all around and does not need a frame. Vavrina captured this 3rd. century Greco-Roman theater, located in Taormina, Sicily, Italy, in all it's ancient stunning beauty. Vavrina and his wife Mary visited this magnificent tomb years ago, but he could never find a painting of it only photographs, so he painted his own. Vavrina painted this on site during a visit to Jerusalem. He was intrigued by the small shops and the old stonework. Vavrina was intrigued by this old mill and waterwheel on the grounds of Berry College, Rome,Georgia. His acrylic on linen rendition is very authentic. Vavrina's oldest daughter is an alumna of Berry College. Vavrina's version of this Holy place depicts devoted pilgrims accending the steps in reverence. Vavrina's version of this old church in Hoboken, NJ, displays it's beauty without the usual distracting, surrounding modern buildings. Vavrina painted one of the best preserved of the ancient temples of Athens, Greece. It was used as a Greek Orthodox Church for most of it's years. Vavrina captured the brillance of the sun on Mount Zion in this striking painting of King David's 2000 yr. old tomb. Vavrina captured the beauty of both the old St. Coloman's Sanctuary and the surrounding Tannheim Mountains in Germany. Vavrina painted this version of one of the old Jerusalem City gates during a visit there. Vavrina's Egyptian series includes this impressive Pharaoh with his wife. This view of the ancient city combines different religious cultures: the Wailing Wall, Dome of the Rock, and a Minaret.
This painting has a 2" white border all around the sides, no frame is necessary.
